Gettin My Exercise On!

I can now say that I'm getting back into the swing of things.  Last night, my fellow bandster buddy and I went walking and we did the Brooklyn Bridge.  From end to end the bridge is 1.5 miles, so in total we walked 3 miles last night.
Boy did it feel great.  I've been doing short walks since surgery, but no real distance.  It took us about 45 minutes to walk the bridge and back and we tried to keep up a good pace all the while dodging bicycles, tourists and distracted couples canoodling at the view.  There are these guys who sell water up at the top of the bridge and they rooted us on as we walked past on our way back, so that was fun and encouraging.  I must say that I'm really blessed to have found a friend to go through this process with.  I met my bandster buddy on lapbandtalk.com.  I did a search to see if I could find someone using the same surgeon as I was and not only do we have the same surgeon, we're close to the same age, and our surgery dates were 2 weeks apart (she went first, so I call her my guinea pig).  I highly suggest finding an exercise buddy to get together with at least once a week.  It helps to keep you accountable and motivated.  I look forward to another walk with her, maybe even tomorrow night!

  2. Me too. It's taking me a little bit to get back to myself, but it was nice to get out there and do it. We stopped for a minute at the top of the bridge to compare surgical scars. It was pretty funny to be up there in the middle of the Brooklyn Bridge with our bellies exposed and looking at each other's tummy. Man, that girl heals well! She's a month out and her scars look great! Not even hardly noticable! Mine however are still a bit red. I have one stitch that will be removed tomorrow finally. Thanks as always for your encouragement. It means a lot.

  5. Hey Liz, def be in touch. I'd love to join you like I mentioned. I'm also enjoying reading yours.

Dani, come on out! If there is one thing you can't do enough of in NY it's walking. It's non-stop and there is plenty to see along the way.
